Book Reviews

The journal invites reviews of books about African and African diasporic religions. Reviewers are expected to summarize the arguments of a book, assess its strengths and weaknesses, and analyze the book’s importance for the transnational, transoceanic study of Africana religions. The summary of the book’s contents should be economical. Focus on why the book is important to the field of Africana religions, how it presents a different and new take on an issue or theme, why its research methods or theories are significant, and/or other critical questions.

Reviews of a single volume will be 750-1,000 words long. Authors interested in contributing reviews of two or more books (in the same review) should email the journal.
